What It Takes to Achieve Purity . . .

Through purity, students may select a musical era out of the following eleven subjects: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Galant, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, Modern, Expressionist, Postmodern or Contemporary and draft written pieces about a certain composer’s musical pieces, theories the composer may have developed or used in those pieces, historical context to provide more clarity, and possible connections to other pieces of that timeframe or of other timeframes.

These connections allow for students to want to research more about their topic, as it may often relate to pieces that they would listen to in a more idolized light due to their greater familiarity with it.

This platform acts as a source of information for those who want to study more in-depth about a topic or set of topics of interest, whether it be for personal curiosities or for academic purposes. An example of an academic research topic would be the following: in this time period, a composer’s theories and how they would’ve established them.

For individuals who have the wish to submit an article related to their subject of interest, they may benefit from clicking on the submissions tab. On the submissions tab, we provide that it is highly recommended for students to align their findings and interpretations with that of the AP Music Theory Units and individual lessons, Skills and Big Ideas to further their understanding of various concepts in a more “structured” way. This allows for student work to be more likely accepted for publication.

Eventually, and hopefully, Purity will be able to have published research papers as well rather than collected works about other research alone.
